Fraudsters are texting people pretending to be a friend or family member & asking for money. The scammer explains the unknown number by saying they have damaged or lost their phone. Check by calling your friend or family on their old number, in case this new number is a scam

From Claire Davis of the Salvation Army – Throughout the year The Shoeburyness Salvation Army supports families and individuals in the local area especially at Christmas. Last year we helped over 100 individuals within the local area with food and toys who were referred to us at Christmas. We will be helping people once again this year.

The service we are offering is providing food parcels to families and individuals who are in need of food at the current time and we also provide food, toys and gifts to those families and individuals who may struggle to afford gifts for Christmas. We have no limit on number of food and present parcels, this is carried out by individual need. The families and individuals are referred by agencies like yourself. Ideally we would provide food parcels for a short period of time whilst other resources are found or the Christmas food and gift hamper is a one off hamper to help support over the festive period.

Regarding deliveries if individuals can come to The Salvation Army and collect that would be better or if one of your volunteers could collect on their behalf that would be fine also as we only have a couple of people able to deliver and they are also the people sourcing food and making up the parcels. If you wish to speak to us regarding this then please do not hesitate to give us a ring on 01702 291500. Should you know of any families or individuals who are struggling at this present time then please contact us on  01702 291500
