SHOEBURY MATTERS – 03.01.2021

Happy New Year everybody. Let’s hope 2021 brings a lot more happiness to the World

A plea from NHS staff. Please make sure you and your family have your NHS number immediately to hand for when you or they are called for the COVID vaccination. This is the biggest bottle neck when it comes to administering the vaccine to as many people as quickly as possible. So look for it now put it on a piece of paper in a prominent place!

CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND – SHOEBURY NORTH COMMON: – The Council are still on target to start work on the playground late January 2021. Peter Lovett has also asked the council to look at moving the Petanque court as, during wet weather, it gets waterlogged. It has been used a lot this year and can be played by any age residents, so it can be a way of bringing the family together.

Louise Facey posted this on our Facebook Page – ‘Who is with me? Wouldn’t it be great to introduce a monthly street market to West Road to help build the businesses up and also introduce local crafts people and small businesses? I think it would really boost West Road and make more of it’ – by 8.30 this morning Louise has 256 likes and 92 comments (all but one positive). It can’t happen at the moment with the covid restrictions but, once they are lifted, I can see this being a great way of bringing Shoebury back to life (along with the opening of heritage centre at the Cart and Wagon and the Estuary event at Gunner Park)

SCAM – If you receive a text message offering you a covid vaccination do not click on the link it is not from the NHS. It is a scam

Lidl – We have heard that Lidl is to be open soon but apparently there is a problem with the car park where the old bridge has been unearthed.
