SHOEBURY MATTERS – 14.11.20211

SHOEBURYNESS ANNUAL REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY PARADE and SERVICE – 10.45 this morning @ Campfield Road War memorial

Last week – Sorry I did not send a newsletter last week. We were away for the weekend (70’s weekend at a Warners). Came back Monday and so little to include so I carried over to this week.

The Folk Like Us Hub in West Road – After posting details about the hub I received an email form one of our members – ‘Hi John, I have this Monday popped into the hub in West Road. I found the people there very inviting and plan to go back again. Many thanks for putting this in your newsletter.’

Community renewal projects receive over £1m in Government Levelling Up funding – Southend Council has secured £1,059,165 in funding for two successful projects from the Government’s UK Community Renewal Fund which will help the local drive to invest in recovery and support the community. 1) The Southend Opportunities project will engage with individuals and businesses to promote local employment opportunities, increase work experience opportunities for young people and adults, increase alternative pathways into employment such as volunteering, promote local skills and training opportunities, and develop longer term employment skills such as confidence and creative thinking. 2) This pilot’s primary focus will be moving people living in the most deprived wards in Southend who are unemployed or economically inactive, towards work in the health and care sector.
