NEWSLETTER 15.08.2021

Are you ready for The Southend Arts Festival? – 3rd to 19th September. The event will showcase and celebrate the immense cultural and artistic talent that we have in the Borough, through a variety of fun and immersive activities and shows.

Events include comedy, art, street performance, music, theatre, literature, spoken word and much more. The Festival also incorporates the hugely popular Southend Film Festival, as well as ‘Garden Gatherings’, hosted by Leigh Folk Festival.

Most of the events will be hosted by private hospitality venues in Southend. As such, they will manage their own COVID compliant risk assessments and ensure accessibility for our residents and visitors, including some online events.

To view the events calendar please see the Visit Southend website.

North Shoebury Surgery – brief Surgery update – We have 5 rooms at North Shoebury Surgery and all are in use every day. The surgery works actively within the Local Primary Care Network (PCN) to help improve the health and care to its residents.  We have worked alongside Southend carers and with the PCN social prescriber throughout covid to look after those shielding and those caring for others. The surgery has worked actively within our PCN to deliver the Covid vaccine to the local population.

We offer a full phlebotomy service at the surgery so our patient don’t have to go to the hospital to get this done. We have a fab team who are always looking at what else we can do for our patients and offer a wide range of service that would otherwise require a referral and a long wait time such as Joint injections, 24 hr ecg, 24 blood pressures. Feno testing, contraceptive implants to name a few.

We have a great team of GPS at the surgery. Dr Siddique is the senior partner GP, Dr Judge (joined us this week and will be working 4 days), Dr Roy, Dr Singh, Dr Chinwe and Dr Aderolu. In addition we have a team of Advanced Clinical Practioners, advanced nurse practitioners, nurses, assistant practioners, healthcare assistants, phlebotomists, pharmacists and prescription clerks. As well as a very hard working admin, reception, secretarial and management team all working very hard to keep up with demand.

Our team has to deal with some 300 minimum daily prescription requests which all need processing, checking and signing. Hospital letters and correspondents that need to be actioned and added to records as well as home visits and 111 calls and this is just a few if the daily tasks.
