One of our members wanted to alert you to a loft insulation scam going around that we have been targeted by several times now. The fraudsters claim that your insulation is problematic and that the government have declared a lot of existing glass fibre insulation to be a health hazard. They offer to come to your home free of charge to inspect – before saying the fibre insulation needs to be removed and replaced at a cost of around £1700. Suffolk Trading standards have conducted independent surveys into this and report that there is no benefit to having the fibre removed and have advised residents to contact the Citezens Advice Consumer Service if they are approached (https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/crime/suffolk-trading-standards-insulation-scam-warning-8037468)
