Southend Council is refining the New Local Plan and we firmly believe that members should look carefully at how this is going to affect your residential area.

Looking at Shoeburyness only, they are looking to build possibly 1,534 new homes (gross), some already approved. Some shown below:-

1 – Parking Area in Eagle Way = 12 new homes

2 – Thorpedene Campus = 65 new homes

3 – Avon Way / West Road = 63 new homes

4 – Crouchman 46 Centurion Close = 60 new homes

5 – Great Mead 200 Frobisher way = 53 new homes

6 – Kingfisher / Sandpiper Close = 32 new homes

7 – Longman’s Rampart Street = 77 new homes

8 – George Street Playing Fields = 16 new homes

9 – Land in Elm Road = 300 new homes

10 – Terminal Close Employment = 149 new homes

11 – Previous Planning permission = 251 new homes

12 – Kestral House Eagle Way = 51 new homes

Raising Southend: a festival of conversations

Come and have fun with your kids – street theatre, comedy, story-telling, walking, tots rave – there’s an event to suit everyone.

Raising Southend is an exciting series of over twenty events and activities taking place across Southend from Monday 13th September to Sunday 26th September 2021 and is aimed at all families across Southend who are either expecting a baby or with children under the age of four, and for professionals in Southend who support them. All events are free.

Trust Links’ Walking Together Event 

Our annual free event is back! Join us on a scenic 10km sponsored walk between the Growing Together Shoeburyness and Growing Together Westcliff on Saturday 11th September starting at 9.30am.

The event is open to all ages and walking abilities, walk it your way and at your own pace. We will have an open garden event at Growing Together Westcliff to celebrate as a community. There will be refreshments and live music from our very own Trust Links band (more details to follow).

Can you help Southend Talking Newspaper? 

The Talking Newspaper is a free weekly audio recording of local news, sent out by post, for people with vision impairment. They are currently looking for new volunteers to support their project and fill one of the below roles:

  1. Admin – dealing with the return of wallets containing the previous recorded media and the despatch of the new recorded media
  2. Readers – exactly what it says, each team has a minimum of three readers who read the news for the current week
  3. Technician – the one that records the voices of the readers and produces the media for despatch to our listeners
