INTERNATIONAL AWARDS FOR SOUTHEND BEACHESA record five Southend beaches will be proudly flying prestigious Blue Flags this weekend. The Blue Flag awards, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, is an international award for well-managed beaches with excellent water quality. East Beach, Shoebury Common Beach, Thorpe Bay Beach and Three Shells Beach have all retained their Blue Flag this summer, with Westcliff Beach picking up the award for the first time.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) – Free Debt Help – CAP have helped over 300 clients struggling with unmanageable debt in Southend, many of whom with mental health problems. Our dedicated helpline number is 0800 328 0006. New client spaces are still available in August and September and we would urge clients to seize the opportunity for this free service. Have your say on the future of the South Essex Region –

Over the past month, hundreds of people have shared their views on what makes South Essex distinct and what they hope the region can achieve in the future, but we need more Southend businesses to share their views and to help shape the future before the survey closes.  Launched back in June, the YourSaySE2050 website https://www.yoursayse2050.co.uk/ aims to facilitate a conversation about the long-term future for the South Essex region in 2050. Through these tools, the six Local Authorities – Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea, Thurrock and Essex County Council – are inviting residents, businesses and voluntary sector organisations to share your views on what’s important and your aspirations for the future of South Essex.
