SHOEBURY MATTERS – 05.07.2020

From Peter Lovett – Attached is formal letter of support for the Playground on Shoebury Common sent on behalf of the Shoeburyness residents’ Association

GUNNERS PARK HOUSING DEVELOPMENT The Developer has submitted another design. This time it is using a re-consultation on a time lapsed application 18/01975/FULM. This was for re-grading & retention of the existing soil heap and erecting Nine Commercial Units, One Retail Unit & One Vets. If you commented previously, you will have to do it again. We are not sure why they are now going for a third design, but whatever design they decide to use, we need a public consultation before any decisions are made by our Council? You can see details on the Planning Portal.

NHS – The NHS have delayed the report on the future of Shoeburyness ambulance station until August.

SCAMS – The four most recent that have come to our notice are – Amazon Prime, TV Licence, netflix and Covid 19 testing. Please be on your guard always!

Deer at East Beach – Natasha Whiskin witnessed an unusual sight while walking late evening on East Beach recently. Through the boom barrier she saw a small deer. She posted on our Facebook page and these were the comments she received –

Richard Ware – He visits us on the garrison

Lorraine Baker – A little muntjac deer has been seen on the Garrison

Jonathan Barton – I saw two muntjack deer about 2 weeks ago, they were MOD side

Andrew Armstrong (Gunners Park Ranger – I reckon it lives on Foulness, as there’s less disturbance.

Mike Bliss – There are known to be roe, muntjac and Chinese water deer living wild on MOD Shoeburyness. It just appears to be out at low water scavenging for any food that happens to be around.

Keeping you informed – dismantling of gas holder at Elm Road, Shoeburyness

I’m pleased to let you know that our contractors, Erith have finished the work to dismantle the gas holder at our site on Elm Road, Shoeburyness. We would like to thank you for your patience while we’ve been on site, as well as attending our drop-in session in January to find out more information.

The dismantling of this site occurred during an unprecedented time, with our staff operating at a reduced capacity, and with many residents being required to stay in their homes during working hours. As such, we appreciate that you may have noticed the works more during this period. This has been a difficult and unusual time for many, and we want to thank you all for your understanding while these important works have taken place.

If you have any feedback for us on how we can do things differently or better, we would be pleased to have your comments.  We are continually looking to improve how we do things as well as how we communicate with our site neighbours, so any feedback would be appreciated. If you would like to provide any feedback or have any other queries, please contact our Community Relations team via email at Shoeburyness@CommunityComms.co.uk, or on 0800 783 2855 during office hours (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm).

Please do feel free to share this update with the wider Shoebury Residents Association and on your social media channels. Do let us know if you require any further information for this.
